Takehiko Yokomizo, MD, PhD

Takehiko Yokomizo, MD, PhD, is a Professor of Biochemistry at the Juntendo University School of Medicine in Tokyo, Japan. He received both his medical degree and doctor of philosophy at the University of Tokyo. His main research interests are lipid mediators (leukotriene, prostaglandin), G-protein coupled receptors, signal transduction, and immune response.

Professor Yokomizo is well known for his cloning and functional analyses of the leukotriene B4 receptors BLT1 and BLT2 (Nature, 1997; JEM, 2000). His laboratory creates and analyzes genetically modified mice targeting cell membrane receptors (GPCRs) and biosynthetic enzymes for lipid mediators. He is a leader of lipid research in Japan, and also serves as a program officer of the Japanese grant-funding agency AMED.
